I’m Stephanie Redlinger.
I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember, and I've been making paper flowers since 2015. My very first paper flowers were my wedding bouquet and my husband's boutonniere for our small City Hall wedding in San Francisco. After our wedding I continued to have an interest in paper flowers, but did not really dive into the deep end until mid-2017 when I participated in a paper flower making workshop taught by Tiffanie Turner. Following that class I was all in.
My background is in the arts. I earned my degree in Studio Art and Graphic Design. While I was working in my studio at college I became deeply interested in the intersection where Fine Art, Graphic Art, and Craft meet. The interplay between these three areas of the art world continues to inspire my art work as well as my personal interests. And now my deep appreciation of the botanical world has been added to the mix.
I consider myself a botanical artist. I work primarily with paper, mainly fine crepe paper, with other media added here an there as needed. I do copious amounts of research on my subjects both before and during the making process, preferably by studying live plants and flowers, but also from online image searches and combing through books and magazines.
I live in Boulder, Colorado where, when not making paper plants and flowers I might be found working out in the garden, joining my husband in chasing our two young kids and our dog around the house, or reading a good SciFi book.
